The Nigerian Postal Service, NIPOST,
has expressed determination to collaborate with the Economic and Financial
Crimes Commission, EFCC, in its efforts to make Nigeria a corrupt free nation.
Musa Adamu, Area Postal Manager, NIPOST,
Kano State territory, gave the assurance on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 during
a courtesy visit to the Kano office of the EFCC.
The NIPOST boss said his office was
planning to launch an ‘Anti Corruption Stamp’ in Kano and that, the EFCC is critical
to the project.
“The EFCC is a critical stakeholder
wherever corruption is mentioned”, he said.
According to him, “the anti-corruption
stamp is targeted at educating the public and to also raise the awareness of
Nigerians on the ills of corruption”.
He added that the anti-corruption
stamp was going to be designed in a way that public lectures from prominent
anti-corruption crusaders would feature.
Adamu disclosed further that the
anti-corruption stamp would also address the issue of e-commerce, which he said
many fraudsters were using to perpetrate serious fraudulent acts in the online
market through the use of multiple ATM cards.
In his remark, the zonal Head of
Operation, Adamu Hamisu Danmusa expressed delight over the visit and assured his
guest of the Commission’s readiness to support any programme aimed at fighting
corruption.
“It is a welcome development because
fighting corruption is everybody’s business. The EFCC as an anti-graft agency
is ready at any time to support any programme that has to do with corruption
fight”, Danmusa assured.
