The Nigeria Police Force, yesterday, said it has
arrested 17 people in connection with the Southern Kaduna Killings.
The Force Spokesman, a Chief Superintendent of Police
(CSP), Jimoh Moshood the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, determined
to catch the killers, constituted a Joint Tactical Operation Squad, ‘Operation
Harmony’, comprising the Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, Special
Anti-Robbery Squad, Intelligence Response Team, SIB, EOD, the IGP Monitoring
Unit, Police K9 (Sniffer Dog Section), Police Air wing and Police Medical Team
with Headquarters in Kafanchan.
Moshood said: “The operation recorded remarkable
achievements in tackling the crisis and preventing further disturbance of
public peace across southern Kaduna. Seventeen suspects were arrested in the
act and caches of fire arms and ammunition were recovered from them.”
According to the image maker, the recent unfortunate
sectarian crisis in Kafanchan and neighbouring communities in Kaduna State led
to loss of lives and properties worth millions of naira.
The suspects have been named as Nelson Paul, 36, a native of Kaninkon Jamma’a Local Government Area,
Kaduna State, Bulus Jatau, 32, from Jamma’a LGA of Kaduna State, Magaji Shaibu,
30, from Chinkun LGA of Kaduna State, Danlami Yakubu, 28, from Chinkun LGA of Kaduna State, Idris bello,
Chinkun LGA of Kaduna State, Danjuma Barde, 39, from Chinkun LGA of Kaduna State,
Danjuma Barde Chikun, 39, from LGA of Kaduna State, Goma Adamu, 28, from Chukwum LGA of Kaduna State, Samuel
Joshua, 29, from Chinkun LGA of Kaduna State, Abudulkareem Abdul, 20, from
Rigasa LGA of Kaduna State, Haruna Iliyasu, 20, Kiru LGA of Kaduna State,
Hassan Idris, 25 from Tsafe of Kaduna State, Adamu Haruna, 28, from Chikwun of Kaduna
State, Adamu Umar, 27, Chikwun LGA of Kaduna State, Sulieman Saleh, 30, from Chinkun LGA of Kaduna State, Abubakar
Mohammadu, 20, from Chikwun LGA of Kaduna State and Muhammadu Jori, 33, from
Igabi LGA of Kaduna State.
A total number of 29 assorted firearms and
ammunition were recovered from their possession.
Moshood said: “All the suspects will be charged to
court on completion of investigation for inciting public disturbance,
disturbance of public peace, causing mischief by fire, culpable homicide, theft
and unlawful possession of prohibited fire arms.”
