Niger Delta crisis: Navy boss solicits for credible leaders

The outgoing Chief Staff Officer (CSO), Navy Logistics Command, Oghara headquarters, Rear Admiral Dogara Albehu, has urged the people of Niger Delta to choose credible representatives to dialogue with the federal government, in order to achieve a lasting peace in the region.

Albehu observed that only credible leaders in Niger Delta could bring the crisis in the region to an end through dialogue.
He said: “The continuous militant struggle of resorting to violence and other acts of sabotaging the efforts of the government will not anyone or the country, any good.”
The CSO, who was hosted by the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Rear Admiral Begroy Enwo, on the occasion of the former’s posting to a new naval station, added: “You can see that peace, which is seriously needed in the region, can only be realised under an atmosphere of peaceful dialogue. It must involve only elected and credible representatives with interest of the region at heart.”
Speaking on the relationship between men of the command and the host Community Oghara, Albehu said: “We have been living peacefully with civilians over the years, and the community enjoys our health facilities, school lecture hall. These are provided at minimal cost.”
The Catholic chaplain of the command, Lt Cdr. Ethelbert Owlu, said Albehu was an easy going officer and a transparent person to all and sundry, especially his sub-ordinates.
