The suspect, Alfa Gani, 25, an Islamic cleric, alleged to be a notorious ritual
killer, was found in possession of the placenta of a two-day old baby in his
house located at Ajibesin community, Ogidi area of Ilorin South area of the
state.
The suspect allegedly removed the
baby’s placenta on Monday where it was buried in the neighbourhood.

discovery, were said to have sent a distress call to ‘E’ Division.’
Sources said that residents in the
area sighted the man while he was digging out the placenta, from where the
father of the baby had earlier buried it. Gani did not know that he was being watched.
Angry youths in the area rose
against the man’s and swooped on his house. They set it ablaze.
The noise of the youths compelled
the mother of the baby to dash out from their apartment, to know what was
happening. When she heard the allegation, she ran to the spot where the baby’s
placenta was buried and discovered that it was no longer there.
