Kidney failure: 26-year-old Yewande needs N9m to live

Miss Balogun Yomade Yewande was very young when her father died in a motor accident.
Since then, things had never been the same for Mrs Balogun, who was saddled with the responsibility of bringing up her three children alone.
Determined to make the best of the tragic situation, Mrs Balogun, a civil servant, made up her mind to do whatever it takes to ensure the kids are educated.
She practically floated on air on the day her daughter, Yewande, graduated from the Obafemi Awolowo University, where she read Sociology and Anthropology.
Yewande also became chattered in personnel management with registration no CIPM/Student/ no 35398. Yewande was said to have kissed her mother on that graduation and told her to henceforth relax, that she was soon going to take the burden off her shoulders. Mrs Balogun had heaved a sigh of relieve.
Like most mothers, her prayer had always been that her children would graduate, get nice jobs and begin to carter for her. But today, fate has dealt a terrible blow to the family.
Rather than get a job and reduce her mother’s financial burden, Yewande, 26, has been struck with chronic kidney disease and presently undergoing dialysis at Gbagada General Hospital, under the supervision of Dr Busari, thus adding further financial burden on her mother’s shoulders.
Mrs Balogun said: “Yewande lost her father to a motor accident on March 20, 1992.
Her nephrologist advised that a kidney transplant should be done as soon as possible. I hereby solicit support from all well-meaning Nigerians, in order to save my young, promising and innocent child.
“The cost projection, according to St Nicholas Hospital is about N 9 million which I honestly cannot afford as a civil servant.
“Attached here is her previous and current picture, her picture during dialysis, her birth certificate, hospital card, her father’s death certificate. I shall indeed be very grateful if you come to my aid earnestly.”
