A 29-year-old man, Ekene Ucheagwu, has reportedly murdered his mother, Agnes, at Ogbunka community in Orumba South local Government Area of Anambra State.
Ucheagwu allegedly strangled his mother yesterday, set her body ablaze before burying the ashes in an evil forest known as Ogba Ukwu forest.
It was gathered that when Ucheagwu was apprehended, he admitted committing the act. He reportedly described the deceased as an evil woman and an agent of “the Queen of the Coast”.
The suspect said his mother was using her mystical powers to kill and maim innocent people. A source said Ucheagwu took the mother to the forest before murdering her.
The police yesterday exhumed the remains of the late Agnes at the evil forest.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Emeka Chukwuemeka, also paraded Ucheagwu before journalists at the State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) headquarters at Awkuzu.
Ucheagwu, it was learnt, was an Aba-based businessman, but for some time, his business nose-dived and upon consultation with some seers he was told that his mother was the cause of his woes.
The source said Ucheagwu had on several occasions confronted his mother on the issues, adding that the late Agnes had vehemently denied the allegation. But yesterday Ekene apparently became tired of such denials and murdered his mother.
