The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday rejected the outcome of the Osun State governorship election, which saw the emergence of the incumbent and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, as winner.
PDP’s Publicity Secretary, Bola Ajao, who was also the agent of the party’s candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore, refused to sign the result of the election.
When the Independent National Electoral Commission Returning Officer for the election and Vice Chancellor of the University of Ife, Osun State, Prof. Bamitale Idowu Omole, presented the result sheet to Ajao for authentication, the publicity secretary declined appending his signature.
Instead, publicity secretary said the party was not going to accept the result of the election.
Ajao said the party had earlier complained to INEC on the shortcomings of the election.
He confirmed that the party had formally written a petition to INEC to table their complaints.
The party’s candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore, had also contested the outcome of the poll in a letter he personally signed in the morning.
