Four arrested for Ikorodu bank robbery

Police have apprehended four persons suspected to be members of a notorious gang which launched vicious attacks on banks in Ikorodu area of Lagos on June 24.

It was gathered that police were informed of soldiers in Ondo State who intercepted one of the suspects during a stop-and-search. According to information, the suspect was on his way to his hometown at Okitikpupa in Ondo State.
When the man was stopped, bundles of new N1,000 notes with bank seals were found in his bag. The soldiers, who were also at alert on the manhunt for the robbers, contacted the Lagos State Police Command on the development.
The former state Commissioner of Police, Kayode Aderanti, immediately demanded the transfer of the suspect to Lagos for further interrogation and subsequent arrest of the others. It was gathered that suspect initially claimed that he learnt of the robbery and went to Ikorodu to get his own share of the loot.
