Abandoned: A Beijing police officer pulls the newborn baby out of the toilet where she had been abandoned |
Heartbreaking
photographs capture the moment a newborn baby was rescued from inside a Beijing
public toilet after her mother gave birth and walked away.
The child became
stuck, head-first, down the pipe of the toilet, and was discovered by the
police after members of the public called them to say they could hear a baby
crying.
Pictures show a
traumatized police officer lifting the tiny infant to safety from the toilet in
the floor.
A search has now
been launched the girl's mother, who police believe gave birth in the toilet
after they discovered blood around the bowl before leaving her child.
