More than 150 women and children kidnapped by Boko Haram are freed as extremists release video of beheading and attacks on army barracks

Rescued: Some of the women and children who were kidnapped by Boko Haram after they were freed in May
More than 150 women and children are among those rescued from Boko Haram militants, the Nigerian army has claimed.
Of the 178 captives freed in the Borno state - the heartland of the insurgency - 101 were children, 67 were women and the rest were men, spokesman Colonel Tukur Gusau said.

The news came on Sunday as the extremists released a video purporting to show attacks on Nigerian army barracks and the beheading of a man in military fatigues said to be a Nigerian soldier.
In a statement on Sunday, the colonel also said a Boko Haram commander had been captured and several militant camps were cleared around the town of Bama, about 45 miles south-east of the state capital Maiduguri.
Nigeria's airforce also said it helped ground troops repel an attack by Boko Haram around the village of Bitta on the southern edge of the Sambisa forest reserve, a stronghold of the militant group.
