‘Why my ex-lover bathed me with hot water’

Ajayi
The man, whose former lover poured boiling water on him as he was sleeping with his new girlfriend at the Apeda area of Ikorodu, has revealed why the carried out the dreadful action.

The victim, Charles Ajayi, writhing in pain on his hospital bed at the Ikorodu General Hospital, told our correspondent yesterday that he would never forget the chilling words his former lover, Josephine Ariwo, said to him after she poured the hot water on him and listened to his cries of pains. According to Ajayi, Ariwo smiled coldly at him and said: “You’re paying the price for jilting me.”

Ajayi said but for the quick intervention of some neighbours, he would have been dead. The victim, who is still at the emergency unit of the hospital, said almost tearfully: “I made many sacrifices for Josephine when we were together for our relationship to survive. But it didn’t.

How can she do this to me?” Ajayi said he and Ariwo parted ways in 2014 after two years of dating without hard feelings. Or so he thought. He recounted: “On the fateful day that Josephine almost killed me, was my elder sister’s wedding day. Since it was a happy occasion, my family had invited Josephine. She came on the eve of the wedding. She was supposed to decorate the venue of the wedding because she has a flair for such thing. We felt it would save us spending money in hiring someone else.
