Residents of communities surrounding Mile 12 Market in Lagos have
expressed disappointment over the refusal of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode
to address them when he visited the area yesterday.
At least 10 people
were killed while scores of others were critically wounded during a
clash which occurred in the area on Thursday.
Three houses, shops, about 38 vehicles, motorcycles among others were
either burnt or vandalised in the clash.
But when visited the area, he
did brief the aggrieved residents after assessing the level of
destruction. Ambode’s convoy simply drove round the troubled spots and
through Aina Road before turning back, leaving the residents
disappointed. But sources said that intelligence/security report was
responsible for the “sudden change in protocol plan”.
