Operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad (SAKS) based at Obiaruku swooped on the hoodlums, hours after they committed the crime.
The three suspects, vandalised the victim’s residence at Ebayadata Quarters, Obiaruku in Ukwuani Local Government Area, robbed him of his laptop valued at N140,000, Samsung X5 Galaxy phone worth N90,000, N260,000 cash, before abducting his 52-year-old wife.
The state Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Celestina Kalu, said yesterday at the command’s headquarters in Asaba that “sequel to the tip-off, operatives quickly mobilised and went after the hoodlums on Obiaruku/Utagba-Uno Road where they ran into the hoodlums’ hideout.” According to her, the kidnappers, on sighting the operatives, engaged them in a gun duel.
She said: “Consequently, one of the suspects identified as Collins Onyemaro ‘m’ aged 35 years was arrested, while the remaining two suspects escaped with bullet wounds before the victim was rescued unhurt.”
