Protect your territories this yuletide, IG orders policemen

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Solomon Arase has tasked all policemen across the federation to embark on surveillances this yuletide and to protect their territories.

Arase specifically instructed policemen to monitor movements of suspected persons and beam searchlights on public places during the period.
The IGP told policemen that proactive policing, where crime would be prevented rather than solved, should be their goals this festive season.

A top police officer said: “The IGP doesn’t want foreigners or any Nigerian to be victims of hoodlums and insurgent during the Christmas celebration. The IGP has placed senior officers in charge of operations and surveillances on red alert.”
It was gathered that particular attention is being given to
entertainment Gardens, amusement parks and shopping malls. It was further gathered that undercover detectives from the Force Headquarters, Zone 7 and FCT Police Command are on ground in strategic places in Abuja.

A police source said: “The IGP came from the Intelligence Unit of the Force. Being an expert in intelligence gathering and dissemination is very crucial in modern policing. The current police management has taken intelligence aspect of the police as not only vital, but a top priority.”
It will be recalled that only two weeks ago, the Force issued a warning to users and sellers of fire arms during the yuletide. The Force threatened to deal with dealers of fireworks and those that patronize them.
