Members of the Federal Task Force (FTF) of Nigeria have called on the
Federal Government to come to their aid.
The FTF Commandant General,
Moses Garuba, who spoke when task force members converged on Gowon
Estate football pitch, Egbeda, Lagos State, said his men were crying out
to meaningful Nigerians to hear the plea. He said:
“This is why all officers are out here. We are on a peaceful protest.
We want job continuity and we are ready to render full support in
curbing corruption in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s mandate.”
Garuba said he and his officials would not just fight corruption, but
would be able to assist government to take the nation’s economy away
from oil. He added:
“We have plenty of trustworthy people in Nigeria. The country needs
to diversify in order to increase revenue base and significantly improve
employment chances. I seize this medium to appeal to Governor Akinwunmi
Ambode that we are not a threat to him or Lagos State.
We want change; that was why we voted for Ambode. We are not
threatening anybody.”
The FTF National Deputy Commandant General, Mr
Popoola Akin, said: “We are 51,000 embattled officials. Christmas is
here and yet we have no money to celebrate it. Things have been
difficult for us. We believe in Buhari.
