IGP's team hunts 15 suspects over fake Ghana currency

 Detectives attached to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Intelligent Response Team, (IRT), Force Headquarters, Abuja, have started hunting for 15 men who were alleged to be printing and circulating fake Ghana currency in Nigeria.


The suspects, operating from a hotel located at Badagry area of Lagos State, where said to have bolted, leaving two suit cases filled with fake Ghana currencies.

A police source said that the suspects abandoned the money and took to their heels when they sighted policemen storming the hotel.


The owner of the hotel, who was arrested over the incident, denied knowing that the suspects were carrying out illegal activities in his hotel. According to him, his job description was to accommodate guests, not meddle into their private affairs.
The owner reportedly said: “I didn’t know what the suspects were doing. Our duty is to check accommodate them. Whatever happened after that, I do not know.”
The detectives are already trailing the fleeing suspects.
