PSC promotes senior policemen 986, plus nine DSPs to SP and 931 ASPs to DSP

*  EMMANUEL IBE BECOMES ACTING SECRETARY







The Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of 986 senior police Officers. The Commission also appointed Mr. Emmanuel C. Ibe, the Director of Administration and Finance as its acting Secretary.

These were highpoints of the Commission’s 14th Plenary Meeting held in Abuja where 12 Police Pending Disciplinary Matters (PDM), were also resolved.

The Commission approved the promotion of CP Shuaiba L. Gambo to the next substantive rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police while DCP Jonah Jackson Mava, Olusola Babajide David, Titus Sumba Lamorde, Chika Abubakar Maidama and Abdullahi Chafe Ibrahim were elevated to the next rank of Commissioner of Police.

The Commission also approved the elevation of 16 Assistant Commissioners to Deputy Commissioners, 21 Chief Superintendents to Assistant Commissioners and 3 Superintendents to Chief Superintendent. It also approved the promotion of 9 Deputy Superintendents to Superintendents and 931 Assistant superintendents to Deputy Superintendents.

Two acting DCPs, four acting ACPs and one acting CSP were also confirmed.  All the promotions take effect from the 16th of December 2015.

The Commission also resolved 12 Pending Disciplinary Matters (PDM), approving the reduction in rank of two officers, severe reprimand for another two and reprimand for four. One officer is to receive a letter of advice while three others were exonerated.

Meanwhile the Commission approved the appointment of Emmanuel C. Ibe as acting Secretary to the Commission. Mr. Ibe until his appointment was the Director of Administration and Finance. He is coming into his new office with an intimidating profile. He was Special Assistant to the former Chairman of the Commission, and presently the Chairman of the Nigerian of Institute of Management, NIM, Federal Capital Territory. Mr. Ibe is a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management (chartered) and a Member of the Institute of Directors (IoD), Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
