‘He drugged, raped me till day-break’

One Chinonye Obi, a sales girl working in Computer Village, has accused 27-year-old Daniel Okwudili of drugging and raping her till day-break.


When 27-year old Daniel Okwudili deceived Chinonye Obi to accompany him to her boss, Mr. Nnadika’s house, she never knew she would end up an all-night rape victim.
Obi, said Okwudili, a businessman at a distance plaza, requested her to accompany her visit her boss’s wife who just gave birth.
On the way to her boss’s house, Okwudili took her to a drinking bar, where he asked for ‘point and kill fish’ pepper soup delicacy. Obi said she only requested for malt drink which was served. 
She said: “I became pressed and went to urinate. When I came back and took the drink, I started feeling weak and drowsy. I didn’t know what had happened until I saw myself naked in his bedroom at Agege. I checked the time; it was 2: am. Okwudili had raped me.  When I looked round, Okwudili has gone to the parlour to sleep.”

Obi said she picked Okwudili’s car key and escaped while he was still asleep. She reported the matter to her boss and Pen Cinema Police Station 
Part of the charge sheet, MIK/A/23/2016 reads: “That you Okwudili Daniel, of No.4 Adeniyi Waya Street by Oniwaya Bus stop Agege, on December, 25, 2016 at about 2: am, in your own residence at Agege Magisterial District did commit felony to wit, rape and did unlawfully have carnal knowledge of one Chinonye Obi, thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 409 of the Criminal Law, No 11 Vol. 44 Laws of Lagos State.”
However, Magistrates, Mrs. Y.O Aje-Afunwa granted him bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties, each in like sum with evidence of tax clearance and verifiable addresses.
Aje-Afunwa adjourned the matter till April 11, 2016 for Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP)’s advice.
