Cultists kill four in Ilorin

At least four persons were killed over the weekend in Ilorin, Kwara State, during as a supremacy battle between rival cult groups. 

This came a few days after an irate mob lynched a suspected kidnapper identified as Kunle Poly, who the police claimed was fingered in a cult killing last week. Kunle Poly was found with eight goats in his car. On Sunday last week, suspected cult members struck at Ikokoro/Sakamo area of Ilorin and killed a boy identified simply as Wasiu.
The latest clash occurred at Babako, Ita- Amodu and Agbo-Oba areas of Ilorin metropolis from Saturday night to about 4a.m. yesterday, according to residents, who expressed fear that the situation was getting out of hand. The crisis has created tension while some residents have fled the affected areas.
A resident told journalists that at the end of the latest clash, four persons, among them a 20-year-old man, were killed by the cultists’ gunshots. Members of Aiye confraternity first struck at Baboko area of Ilorin around 9:30p.m. on Saturday and allegedly killed two persons. Later cultists at Baboko area headed for Ita-Amodu and Agbo-Oba areas of Ilorin on revenge mission.
