Shock is simply the word that characterized the attack of Boko Haram on Baga on Saturday. The attack has been described as one of the worst attacks since the Islamist sect unsheathe
claw and bared fangs.
According to MSN, it
is believed that Boko Haram killed over 2000 villagers, including wobbling old
men and women.
The
worst was the sickening and saddening failure of the military to bother to make
a semblance of fighting back.
It
was gathered that immediately the Nigerian trooped sighted the Boko Haram as it
attacked it military post in Baga, the soldiers bolted, leaving the civilians
in the area to their fate.
Over
2000 did not live to tell the story of how they were slaughtered and how others
managed to escape.
It
is speculated that the wanton killings maybe connected to Boko Haram attempting
to forestall the forthcoming elections.
But
it’s doubtful if anything will halt the forthcoming elections.
Indeed,
Nigerian leaders, politicians, lawmakers have become immune to the dirge and
piling corpses in the land.
They
turn blind eyes and deafened ears to the cries of the wounded and dying. The only
beat they hear now, is the beating of the drum of the forthcoming elections.
