A farmer at Onigbedu town in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State has killed himself after he beheaded his wife and three-year-old daughter.
Mr Olubusayo Sunday, 46, was said to have inflicted knife cuts on his body, before setting himself ablaze.
Homicide detectives are yet to know the reason for his horrible actions.
Police spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi shed further light on the issue.
He said: “The man was noticed when he stabbed himself and wanted to jump into a well near his house, having set himself ablaze but was prevented and rescued by his neighbours, who later found out that he had wreaked a greater havoc in his house, but he later died in the hospital.
“The wife, Oyewole Sunday, 40 years, and the daughter, Esther Sunday, three years, were beheaded by Olubusayo for reasons known to him. But the last statement Olubusayo made before he died, in the presence of the police detectives, suggested that there was a quarrel between him and his wife.”
