Fresh facts have emerged about the Tuesday bloody bank robberies that occured in Ondo State. The facts say that three banks, Firstbank, Skyebank and Ecobank were successfully attacked and their vaults gleefully raided by heavily armed robbers in army uniform.
The death toll has also increased from 15 to 18.
It was also gathered that the number of policemen slain are eight, not four.
The robbers, in a movie-style, arrived in army coloured vehicles and uniforms and attacked the banks.
The bandits split into groups, with one attacking police station, to compel policemen to stay inside.
They used dynamites to blow open the banks and vaults.
Most of the people killed were students, collecting money from ATM.
Several people,
including three policemen, were seriously injured in the coordinated
attacks unleash by the robbers.
The three
different banks were raided by the robbers. An undisclosed amount of
money was carted away during the operation.
The robbers also stole official cars of the banks. Four riot policemen were killed on
the premises of one of the banks, three policemen at a police station at
Igbede on Owo Road, while one was killed by stray bullet.
The streets were said to have littered with wounded and dead after the dust settled. Among the dead was a pastor.
The robbers stationed themselves at every junction of the
town and shot at policemen on sight.
