An 11-month-old baby boy has been abandoned in from of the Baale of Coker-Ifako's Palace, Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area of Lagos State.

Residents said that the child was discovered in the morning. Besides the boy were biscuits, Chees-balls and a travel bag containing his clothes.
The residents believed the baby was not from the area, insisting they would have recognized him and identified the mother. A resident said she was still shocked that a mother could abandon her little boy.
She said: “Oh God, how can a woman do this to a child she carried for nine months in her womb? I wanted to take the baby and nursed him, but for the intervention of the police.”

Coker said: “At about 5:30am, some residents gathered at the entrance of my compound after hearing the cry of a baby boy.  I went there and saw the child. Immediately, I called 767, which is Lagos State Emergency Service number. After an hour, police officers from Pen Cinema Police Station, Agege arrived came to pick him.”
Coker said he accompanied the baby to the station and wrote a statement. The boy was handed to the officer in charge of the Human Right Desk.
