Insecurity: IGP orders police commands to beef up security in stations, banks

Ahead the forthcoming general election and increasing attacks from the Boko Haram, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Suleiman Abba, has ordered the Zonal Assistant Inspectors General of Police and Commissioners of Police at State Commands to take stern measures at securing arms and ammunition on hold to the Police at various departments and stations.

This becomes imperative in a bid to ward off any likely or possible attempt by hoodlums or men of the underworld to attack Police stations and other installations.
It would be recalled that the IGP had earlier directed audit on Police Armouries nationwide with a view to securing the Police arms and ammunition and in tandem with the mission of the IGP to provide safety and security in Nigerian communities and controlling social order.

The IGP, in addition, directed all Commissioners of Police at State Commands to beef up security at banks within their jurisdictions and further collaborate with bank authorities and officials to secure their premises.

He further enjoins the members of the public to remain steadfast in collaborating with officers and men of Nigeria Police Force to stamp out crimes, as the Police is determined to make the nation safe and secure for Nigerians and Foreigners to go about their normal businesses.
