Mobile policemen and vigilantes headed by the renowned hunter, Ali
Kwara, yesterday shot dead five suspected armed robbers during a
shootout in Bauchi State.
The incident followed intelligent report made
available to the police and vigilantes who raided the hideout of the
robbers in Kunjin/Lodio forest in Bursali District of Zaki Local
Government Area.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Haruna
Mohammed, said in a statement that the gun battle lasted for over 30
minutes. He said: “About 1200 hours, following intelligence report, the
renowned hunter, Ali Kwara, in collaboration with a team of police
mobile personnel attached to him, raided a criminals’ hideout in Kunjin/
Lodio forest in Bursali District and had a fierce gun battle with
suspected armed robbers which lasted for more than 30 minutes. “As a
result, five of the suspects were fatally wounded and rushed to the
Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Azare, but were certified death on arrival
by a medical doctor.”
