The police in Ogun State have arraigned a
40-year-old carpenter, Adewunmi Adedoyin, for allegedly defiling a
10-year-old girl in Magboro town, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of
the state.
The suspect was arraigned on Wednesday
before a Chief Magistrates’ Court, Owode-Egba, with charge number
M00/365c,which stated that the accused had committed an offence contrary
to and punishable under Section 218 of the Criminal Code Vol 1 Laws of
Ogun State of Nigeria 2006.
Adedoyin, who resides at 58 Miracle Avenue, Magboro, Ibafo, allegedly committed the offence on October 18, 2015.
He was said to have been apprehended by
neighbours who heard the victim screaming. The mother of the victim was
said to be attending a church programme not far from their home when the
incident occurred.
The suspect was immediately handed over to the police in Ibafo.
He was subsequently transferred to Ogun State Police Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, and thereafter charged to court.
