The Christ Evangelical Ministry International Church has finally
reacted to the arrest of four of its security guards,’ stressing that
the church doesn’t sell guns.
The church, located at 4 Adio Balogun
Street, Fagba, Lagos State, said it was shocked over the arrest of its
Chief Security Officer(CSO).
The pastor of the church wasn’t around when our correspondent visited
the church, but one of the members, who spoke on the condition of
anonymity said: “We don’t sell guns in our church! We employed Joel Ojo
when he came to meet our General Overseer that he didn’t have work and
needed a job to take care of his family two years ago.” It would be
recalled that last week Tuesday, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police,
Mr. Fatai Owoseni, paraded four men, alleged to be armed robbers.
Two pump action rifles and two pistols were recovered from the
suspects’ Honda Accord car. According to Owoseni, the suspects were
arrested on September 28, 2015, at about 11pm during police ‘Stop and
Search,’ at Abattoir, Agege. The police chief said that a police
identity card was recovered from him. Ojo was alleged to be the leader
of the gang. Ojo and three others, who were arrested in his company,
denied being the owners of the rifles. Ojo said: “We’re not robbers! As I
speak with you, I’m having headache and cannot speak much.
