There was confusion Thursday in the Obalende area of Lagos following a
clash between the men of the Lagos State Taskforce on Environmental and
Special Offences Unit and social miscreants popularly called ‘Area
Boys’.
The mayhem, New Telegraph gathered was a result of a commercial
motorcyclist, who jumped off the Obalende bridge after sighting the
officials of the task force died immediately.
The yet-to be identified motorcyclist, New Telegraph learnt lost his
life while trying to evade arrest by the men of the taskforce for plying
prohibited routes in the state.
The incident climaxed about two hours of taskforce operation in the area.
The development quickly drew public sympathy to the victim, leading to reprisal attacks on the law enforcement
officers.
