Granny, lady friend found with 100 cartridges

Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested an 80-year-old woman for supplying and keeping arms and ammunition for a gang of robbers in the state.

The suspect, Madam Comfort Izedomwen, was arrested alongside her partner in crime, Mrs. Stella Omobude, 48. Police recovered 68 cartridges from Izedomwen.
When Omobude was arrested, 32 live cartridges, which she allegedly kept for members of an armed robbery gang, were found in her residence. The confessional statement of Omobude led to the arrest of Izeomwen at Ekae Village, Benin City.
After Izeomwen was nabbed, about 68 live cartridges were recovered in her house. Stating her own side of the story, Izeomwen denied being a robber. She said she sells car-tridges for a living. Her words: “I sell cartridges to my customers for N250.
This is the business I do to sustain my family. Yes, I sell to people, but I don’t know what they do with it!” The State’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Chris Ezike, said that Izedomwen and Omobude, along with 71 others, were arrested for various criminal offences in different parts of the state.
