Students of the newly upgraded Alvan Ikoku Federal University of
Education, Owerri Imo State now live in apprehension over the raging
cult war in the institution between two suspected groups, which has
already claimed three lives.
The killings, which took place at different locations in the campus of
the university along Orlu Road in the heart of the state capital, was
said to have started Wednesday evening.
The three people killed, it was learnt, were said to be students of the
institution, and the development forced other students to flee their
hostels and leave the university environment.
According to sources in the university, two boys thought to be cult
members trailed one of the deceased to the refectory of the school and
shot him in the chest with a locally made pistol while the other ones
were said to have been killed within the Shell Camp area of the campus.
