N13bn land scam: Tompolo bombs efcc

Mr. Government Ekpomupolo (aka Tompolo) has descended heavily on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for ‘summoning’ him for questioning after allegedly being implicated by the former Director-General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Mr. Patrick Ziakede Akpobolokemi.

The NIMASA DG had fingered Ekpomupolo as the main beneficiary of the N13 billion compensation reportedly paid on land acquired for the construction of the permanent site of the Nigerian Maritime University, Delta State.
The EFCC had on Thursday invited Ekpemupolo, over the alleged land scam involving him and NIMASA for money which was never paid to the Okerenkoko and Omadino communities for their land acquired by the Federal Government. But in a swift reaction, the former militant leader described as ‘provocative and an act of lawlessness’ the move by the EFCC to invite him for questioning. Tompolo, in a statement personally signed by him, said: ‘’The invitation is a deliberate attempt to heat up the polity.”
Speaking further he said: ‘’The impression being conveyed is that I was invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and I failed to honour the invitation or even respond by letter to the invitation. “On the contrary, nothing could be further from the truth. On the 24th of November 2015, I was informed at about 4pm that a letter of invitation had been dropped at my home in Warri, inviting me to EFCC’s office in Lagos by 10am on the 25th of November 2015.
