The CRAN delegates to the session were led
by the Association’s President, Mr. Christopher Orji. At the interactive
session, the Commissioner of Police pointed out that there was need to foster
cordial relationships between the Police and the PRESS at all times
in order to avoid speculative and ambiguous journalism capable of instilling a
general feeling of insecurity, inciting the citizenry and provoking violent reactions.
He also emphasized his readiness to work in synergy
with the PRESS, saying that his office was open to the Association for reports
and suggestions that could enhance the Command’s performance.
He averred that he had set in motion, the process of
restructuring and repositioning the Public Complaints Bureau (PCB) of the state
Command which he disclosed was henceforth to be headed by a Chief
Superintendent of Police with a view to checking negative reports and
complaints against Police actions.
In his response, the President of CRAN, Mr Christopher
Orji thanked the Police Commissioner for making out time to host the social
gathering and pledged the full support of the Association to the Command. The
Commissioner of Police fielded questions from the members of the Association,
dispelling misconceptions and clarifying issues raised during the brief
get-together.
