A 26-year-old man, Mr Ugochukwu Okeke, was yesterday arraigned before
Ikeja Magistrates’ Court 1, for vandalising three Automatic Teller
Machines (ATMs) belonging to First Bank Nigeria PLC with chemicals.
The accused, on August 30, about 12pm, damaged the three ATMs
belonging to a branch of the bank, located at Victoria Garden City,
Lagos Magisterial District.
Citing the charge sheet, the prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of
Police (ASP), Mr Samson Ekikere, said that two of the ATMs were Hysong
products valued at $31,000 equivalent of N6,200,000, while the other
ATM, an NRC product, was valued at $16,000, equivalent of N3,297,000.
Okeke administered chemical substance on the machines, apparently to dissolve the equipment and carry out his intention.
