RSS holds robber disguising as scavenger

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested a man who used to disguise as a scavenger in order to rob unsuspecting residents and commercial drivers around Ojota area of Lagos State.

The suspect, Abdullai Umar, 24, was arrested by RRS operatives, during a routine patrol around Abiola Garden in Ojota. After a preliminary investigation, it was gathered that the suspect is a member of a gang, whose members usually disguise as scavengers, but hide arms in their trucks.
According to the police, Umar and other members, use the weapons, hidden in the trucks, to threaten their victims before robbing them of their cash and other valuables. One of the victims, Mr Dayo Zachariah, whom Umar had allegedly robbed, recounted his ordeal to the police.
He said: “I was trekking from Ketu, Tipper Garage along the road, leading to Chinese Town to board a bus to office when I was robbed. The suspect jumped out from the bush and attacked me with a cutlass.
