Ex-convict nabbed after six months on the run

An ex-convict, who had been on the run since six months over robbery allegations, has finally been arrested.

The suspects, Oluchi Ibrahim, 29, escaped from policemen in May, 2015, but nailed in November 20, 2015 by policemen attached to the Lagos State Police Command.
Ibrahim confessed to being an ex-convict, having served jail sentence in Benin Republic in 2014 for rape.
The suspect, with three of his gang members, was intending to rob Peckas Club, Allen, Ikeja, Lagos, in May 2015, when policemen at a checkpoint spoilt their planned party.
The policemen, who were on a routine patrol of the area, flagged them down and carried out a search of their vehicle. Two locally-made pistols and four cartridges were found inside the car. Three of the suspects were arrested, but Ibrahim escaped.

Since his arrest, police have been hunting for Ibrahim. They however located him in November at Pathfinder Cool spot in Badagry.
Ibrahim said that after he was released from prison in Cotonou, he went to Badagry to reside. It was there he met two of his former prison inmates. He said they tricked him into entering their car. They lied that they were going to Ikeja to collect money. They didn’t tell him they going for robbery.
Ibrahim recalled: “When we were at Badagry, Segun told me to hire a car. He said that he wanted to collect some money at Ikeja. I didn’t know they were going to rob. Immediately we got to Allen Roundabout, some policemen stopped us. They searched our car and discovered two locally-made pistols from Segun.
“Segun is the owner of those guns. I was lucky to escape that day because I sat in the front seat of the car. I left Lagos for Cotonou. Segun and others were arrested and they are currently in Kirikiri Prison.”
