Police arrest traffic robbers, recover four phones, machetes



The Lagos State Police Command have arrested five four suspected robbers, who used to rob commuters and motorists along Iyana-woro, Mushin, Oshodi Under bridge.

The suspects are Shakiru Biola, Adekunle Mustapha, Popoola Olumide and Femi Musa, were alleged to have been caught right in the act of robbing victims.
According to the police, the suspects were arrested on November, 12, 2015. Police said the suspects had no fixed address.
Recovered from them was a handbag containing Airtel recharge card worth N2, 000, 00, MTN card 400.00, 500.00 and Glo N2, 000.00.  There are one infinity phone, one Techno phone, one Samsung phone, Nokia phone, a bunch of keys, one spectacle, one I.D card and four memory cards belonging to one Ajibola Oluwasegun. The police also recovered machetes.
Some of the suspects allegedly attacked one Oyelakin Olasunkanmi, just as he was alighting from a bus. The suspects robbed him of Bold 6 Blackberry phone, valued at N50, 000.00.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), in charge of Bariga Police Station, also arrested one Shakiru Biola, 23, for traffic robbery.
Biola said: “I usually go to Iyana-Oworo area every morning around 6-8am to rob during rush hour. I joined gang that used to rob in traffic after I saw a guy stealing a phone during rush hour. We became friends and he taught me how to pick pockets.”
