The bomb blasts, which occurred about 1:45pm, seemed to have targeted the military checkpoint, where soldiers usually stop and search vehicles going from Fika Local Government motor park to Potiskum Local Government Area.
A witness, who was close to the checkpoint, said that shortly after the blasts he counted 13 bodies in a ‘Sharon’ bus with registration number: Yobe XA507FKA. He said: “I had just passed the military checkpoint on my way to Fika town when I heard the blasts around 2pm. So, I rushed back. But five minutes later, there was another blast in a commercial vehicle.”
