Funmi-Kawell, who was wearing cervical collar walked into the secretariat of
the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Ilorin assisted by her brother and
lawyer, alleged that the football agency boss, who also doubles as the
organising secretary of the PDP in the state, gave her a thorough beating and
she had to be rushed to hospital before she could survive.
The woman, who is in her early 40s, said she was beaten black and blue and in the process broke her neck and sustained other bodily injuries.
But Akinbobola denied ever beating his staff or being in the office on day in question saying he was away to Lagos for an official assignment and was still in Lagos as at the time of the incident.
