Eid-el Maulud celebration: IGP worries over possible attack, alerts his men

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Suleiman Abba, has ordered police formations across the federation to be at alert as Muslim faithful in Nigeria join their brothers and sisters across the globe in celebrating the birth of Prophet Muhammed on January 2, 2015.

The order came following the antecedents of the Boko Haram, which used to attack worshippers, especially during special occasions.
There are fears that they may strike. Abba therefore, not ready to take chances, ordered his lieutenants to be at alert at their duty posts.

They should also supervise the control of the flow of traffic and safety of commuters and all road users.”
Abba further urged all Muslim Umma to emulate the lifestyle of the Holy Prophet by being kind and accommodating to their neighbours and everyone they come across.
While acknowledging the hard work of officers and men as exhibited during the Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year festivities, the IGP directed all officers to be more professional in the course of discharging their duties so that the citizens could have a hitch-free holidays and Eid-el Maulud celebrations.
