Driver docked for allegedly touching breast of neighbour’s daughter

The Police in Lagos on Thursday arraigned a driver, Okechukwu Okoli,48, in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly assaulting his neighbour’s daughter by “touching her breast”.

The accused, who lives at 100, Old Abeokuta Road, Agege, a suburb of Lagos, is facing a one-count charge of indecent treatment of a child.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Jimah Iseghede, told the court that the offence was committed on August 24, at the residence of the accused.

Iseghede said the accused called the victim, an 11-year-old girl, to his room under the pretence of sending her on an errand, only for him to remove her blouse and start fondling her breast.

“It was one of the neighbours who sighted the accused, that raised an alarm,” he said.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
