Company driver, 42, charged with N15m SUV theft

A 42-year-old driver, ‎Gabriel Akin-Maweku, was Wednesday charged before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, over alleged theft of SUV worth N15 million.

Akin- Maweku, a former driver of Seplat Petroleum Development Company Ltd., is facing a three-count charge of burglary, stealing and impersonation.

The Prosecutor, Cpl. Cyriacus ‎Osuji, told the court that the accused, who resides at No. 10/23, Jakande Road in Ojo-Ajangbadi area of Lagos, committed the offences on September 30.

He said the accused impersonated one Yusuf Audu, an officer, to gain entry into a branch of his former office‎ at No. 14, Temple Road, Ikoyi, Lagos.

“After he had gained entry into the company, he stole a black Toyota Prado jeep with registration no. BDC 362 AJ, property of the company.
