Forty five suspected cult members, including seven ladies, were
yesterday arrested at Peacebody Hotel, Ovwian, in Udu Local Government
Area of Delta State during initiation ceremony.
The Special Anti-Robbery
Squad (SARS) swooped on the group, comprising 38 boys and seven girls,
while they were still holding meeting.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Celestina Kalu,
said the officer in charge of SARS, Asaba, received information that
suspected cultists were holding initiation ceremony and immediately
deployed operatives to the area. Kalu said: “Besides those arrested, one
battle axe, six arm bands with the inscription of Aye Confraternity,
were recovered from the suspects.”
