Banker hacks 80-year-old mother to death



A 52-year-old banker has been arrested at  Jenta Mangoro area of Jos North Local Government, Plateau State, for hacking his 80-year-old mother.

It was gathered that the suspect stormed into his mother’s room in the early hours of the morning and hacked his mother, Mama Yakubu to death.

The suspect, Bravo Kunde, a Union bank worker in Jos, was alleged to have carried out the crime under the influence of excessive drugs.
An eye witness, Baba Nati, a relative, said that Kunde used a machete in hacking his mother to death and left
Nati, who was among the first person to go to the scene, said: “We, the members of the household heard the deceased shouting for help at about 6am. On rushing to her sleeping quarter, we discovered her lifeless body in a pool of blood."
Another member of the family, Moses Yakubu, younger brother of the suspect, said that his elder brother had been behaving abnormal for a while, leading to the attack on their mother.
Yakubu said: “My brother is into excessive consumption of hard drugs, and had been acting strangely of late!”
The Plateau State Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), DSP Emmanuel Abuh confirmed the incident, adding that the police were already investigating the murder after depositing the remains of the old woman in the morgue.
