A 25-year-old man, Yusuf Suleiman, has reportedly raped a two and a
half year old girl at Adamawa Street, Dutsen Kura, Minna, Niger State.
Unfortunately, Suleiman described a friend of the girl’s father,
allegedly raped the victim’s mother 10 years ago.
Parading the suspect
before journalists yesterday in Minna, the state Police Public Relations
Officer (PPRO), ASP Bala Elkana, warned parents to pay more attention
to their wards.
According to him, most of the minor rape cases are committed by those
closed to the parents.
Elkana said the suspect confirmed that on that
faithful day, he saw the girl come out of her house, led her to a corner
and had carnal knowledge of her.
He said the suspect would soon be
charged to court. The girl’s mother, identified simply as Zainab, said
she was never comfortable with the suspect’s relationship with her
husband.
