Lagos State government yesterday vowed to revoke approval of all
abandoned buildings in the state.
The state Police Commission-er, Fatai
Owoseni, who made the disclosure, also read the riot act to armed
robbers terrorising the state. The commissioner warned robbers to leave
the state or be crushed by the security operatives. Owoseni said
security surveillance had been beefed up in all parts of the metropolis.
On the threats posed by abandoned buildings, the commissioner said the
security agencies had intensified efforts to rid the buildings of
miscreants He said:
“That has been done. If you go to Falomo, that is one of the issues
that was identified then. The place has been ridden of miscreants that
once occupied the place. Some uncompleted buildings in other areas have
been raided including Ebute-Metta. They are now free of miscreants.
“The state government is working to get owners of abandoned
buildings; approvals issued would be revoked.” Owoseni spoke while
fielding questions from journalists after the State Security Council
meeting chaired by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
He said that the security operatives in the state had changed their
tactics to crush the robbers. According to him, the state government has
declared zero tolerance for criminal activities. The commissioner
promised that traffic robbery would soon be a thing of the past. He
