In what looked like a scene from Hollywood films, heavily armed men on Tuesday night swooped on two commercial banks and emptied their vaults at Igarra, headquarters of Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State.

By the time they left, two policemen, a private security guard attached to one of the banks, three civilians, among them a commercial motorcyclist, and a suspected robber were killed. Several other people sustained gunshot injuries. The robbers, numbering about 15, stormed the agrarian town in two Toyota Sienna buses.
It was gathered that the robbers had on arrival in the town about 6pm first invaded the Igarra Police Station where they dislodged the officers and killed two policemen.
They moved from there to the banks where they stole money and shot some people. The robbers were said to have rained bullets on every available object in sight and burst open the security entrance door of one of the banks with explosives.
