More facts emerged yesterday about how police operatives from Ogun
State rescued a four-year-old boy, Steve Kanu, from suspected kidnappers
in Enugu State at the weekend.
The abduction, which was allegedly hatched by a 25-year-old nurse,
Maureen Uchenna, blew open after the suspects collected N1 million
ransom from the victim’s parents.
After the boy’s parents, Dr and Mrs Mucipay Kanu, had parted with the
ransom, the suspects also demanded N11 million additional ransom and
threatened to kill the boy if the money was not paid.
But nemesis caught up with the suspects on Friday when the
anti-kidnapping unit of the Ogun State Police Command swooped on them in
their hideout at Nsukka, Enugu State.
