Mrs. Funmilayo Adams still has a shock look on her face. It was now
one week after her husband, Samuel Adams, 35, was stabbed to death by a
motor park tout at Oshodi over N100 ticket. Adams was married to two
wives and had five kids. Funmilayo is the second wife.
The mother of three, who spoke with our correspondent in their
one-room apartment at Ijoko- Sango-Ota, Ogun State, wept intermittently
as she recalled how her husband was murder.
She said: “As long as I live, I would never get over the shock that
my husband was brutally stabbed and his life snuffed out just because of
a mere N100. Can you believe that someone left a widow and my three
kids’ fatherless because of N100? How do we go on? Where do I start?”
She started crying.
Fumilayo said that while she was worried about her fate and those of
her kids, she was also scared to death over the condition of her
motherin- law. She said that her motherin- law collapsed after she heard
the news that the youngest of her two sons, was dead.
She was rushed to hospital and her condition appeared to be getting
worse. According to eye witnesses, Adams allegedly refused to pay the
touts their usual arbitrarily every day toll fee of N100.
The touts were further said to have shattered the windscreen of Adams
bus as argument ensured. The deceased was blocked just as he was about
to drop off some passengers. Adams’ refusal angered one of the touts who
brought out a broken bottle and stabbed him on the chest and shoulder.
