Edo robbery: Vigilantes arrest two more suspects

Vigilantes have again arrested two of the suspected robbers who on Tuesday raided two banks at Igarra, headquarters of Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State.

The suspected robbers were arrested yesterday following a search by the vigilantes who combed the forests around the agrarian town and communities.
This brings the number of those arrested to three. The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Osifo Abiodun, who confirmed the arrest of three suspects, said more police officers had been sent to Igarra town to fortify the banks and border communities. Abiodun said the command had stepped up efforts to arrest more of the suspects.
He said: “More suspects were arrested and are undergoing interrogation. In fact, we are expecting them in Benin so that we can ascertain the extent of their involvement in the incident. We have about three suspects now.”
Six persons, among them two policemen, a private security guard at one of the banks and bank customers were shot dead in the attack.
