Police have rescued a twoweek- old baby girl allegedly stolen by a
woman, Mrs Ifeoluwa Yekini, at Abule Ifo in Ifo Local Government Area of
Ogun State.
The police also arrested Yekini. The state Police Public
Relations Officer (PPRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the incident
yesterday, said the suspect had been monitoring the mother of the baby
right from when she was pregnant.
Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said the suspect
eventually succeeded in stealing the child using deception. According to
him, the baby girl was stolen on October 31 and rescued on November 14.
The police spokesman added that the suspect had also deceived her
husband into believing that she was pregnant. Adejobi explained that
having succeeded in stealing the baby, Yekini went into hiding at her
parents’ village from where she called her husband and his relations on
the phone, informing them that she had been delivered of a baby girl. He
